Archive: SURE! Just put my name on it and tell me ; ) Feedback: YESYESYESYES!!! Flames, praise, anything! AltarGirl2@aol.com Disclaimer: Not mine! Dedication: For Jeremy Hersch It was a scene out of a college spring break: a blue BMW Z3 sped down open road, a handsome young man at the wheel. A young redheaded woman sat in the passenger seat, feet kicked up on the dash, a bottle of coke in the hand resting on the door. They were both smiling, the wind toying with their hair. "Mulder, are we *crazy*? What the hell are we doing?" He glanced over at her, smiling. "Could be!" She laughed, not at him, but at her own foolish actions. "You know, we just took off this morning without telling *anyone*... we could get into some major trouble." He shrugged nonchalantly. "What are they going to do? Fire us? Doubtful!" She nodded. "Well, they can't do anything about the actual fact that we're *gone*, but what about the nepetism rule?" "What about it?" He was confused- what did their taking a small trip have to do with family? "Well, don't you think Skinner will read something into a man and a woman taking a random road trip together and not telling anyone?" He sank back in his seat. "Perhaps... but maybe that's not such a bad thing, then, Scully!" He shot her his charming, somewhat wicked smile, and she laughed- more out of embarassment than at the joke. His innuendoes had increased lately- both in number and intensity. Before she'd just laughed them off, but now the little jokes were starting to mean more to her than sarcasm. There seemed to be a tinge of truth to them. She'd been thinking a lot about him lately- and not just the usual. She'd be pondering a case, and her mind would slip to him, and in her head they'd be talking, and suddenly she'd be kissing him. She never planned to daydream about him *that* way- it just *happened*. She was confused by it- she had no idea what it meant. She lifted her feet from their position and scrunched herself into a ball, resting her head on her knees. She was trying to block it out, but instead ended up laughing at herself. He looked at her and shook his head- she'd been acting so strangely around him lately. He didn't understand her behaviour, and wasn't sure he *wanted* to know the root of it. She was such a complex woman- just when he thought he knew her inside and out, she showed him another side of her unpredictable self. She'd always struck him as an amazing human, and her many-sided personality added to the effect. "Maybe it's *not* such a bad thing, Mulder," she said thoughtfully, raising her head. He began to laugh, but when he saw the expression on her face, he simply stopped the car at the side of the road. "*What*?" She smiled. "Well, maybe they're right- the people who think there's something going on between us." His mounth just hung open, unable to form words. She went on. "Well, there's always been that sexual tension between us, and, well, I thought maybe it was... more. Allow an experiment?" She was killing him. If this was a joke... but he nodded anyway. She leaned tentatively towards him, placing one hand behind his neck and one on his chest. She kissed him tenderly, passionately, and there was an intensity to it that neither would ever forget. She drew away from him, watching his face for a reaction. His feelings were not expressed in his eyes but in his hands as he pulled her to him and again their lips met. Another scene from a college spring break: a young couple making out in their convertible at the side of a road, under the hot sun, the wind toying with their hair... end
