Blue Eyes: (sequel to Black Jeans by Sarah Kiley & Red Suit by Alicia Donovan) By Alana T. Reeves (The last paragraph of Black Jeans:) She watched as he walked into her kitchen, studying him from behind. Yes,he did look gorgeous in black. Especially in those tight black jeans. A rush of heat invaded her body as she shut the door. She had made the dinner. And she wanted Mulder a la Black for dessert. _______________________________________________________________ That's where Sarah left off, and this is where I begin. *************************************************************** He walked slowly into the kitchen. The surroundings were familiar. He had been in this apartment a thousand times, but this time the feeling and the purpose for his coming were different. He hadn't come just to talk about a case or do paper work, but because of the way his heart was racing, he wished he had. The eerie silence was too much. He had to say something. "Scully, the dinner looks great. You shouldn't have gone to so much trouble." She was flattered by the compliment. She had just hoped he hadn't eaten. From the look in his face, though, she could tell he hadn't, so at least the food would provide a significant distraction. He pulled out the chair for her to sit in. She appreciated the gesture, and smiled politely. As she sat down and leaned into the chair, her back lightly touched his fingers and she swore she could feel the electric impulses rushing from his body into hers. He walked around the table to the place she had set for him, and slowly sat down, using the arms of the chair for support. At a time like this, he found it hard to stand without trembling. They just sat there for a few minutes, though it seemed like forever. Neither of them knew how to start off the conversation. The incident in the office earlier had been so unexpected. Scully was too nervous to touch her food, but she figured that if she didn't, she wouldn't have an excuse for not talking. She began to pick daintily at the rice, but the pause in conversation was too nerve-wracking. "So... What exactly did you want to talk about?" "Well... I guess I'm here to clear up what happened in the office today." He paused for a moment, not knowing how to proceed. This was dangerous territory he was entering, but his heart told him to be completely honest. "Scully, I know it was kind of out of place, but I had to do it. It drove me crazy when I saw that it was you Adams was kissing. I... I don't know..." It was hard for him to express his emotions. There was so much he felt, but so little he could say. She didn't know what to say to him. "Yeah, I guess that was kind of uncalled for." All of a sudden, what he had said was starting to make sense to her. Her mind was jerked from its thought by his sweet voice. "I don't know why... but it just hurt me so much. Maybe a part of me thought, that you were abandoning me or something..." "Mulder, you know I would never abandon you. You're the most important part of my life." She hoped that he might get the hint so she wouldn't have to spell out her love for him. Her feelings were different than they had been for all the other guys she had dated. *He* was different. He was Mulder. "I am?" he asked, his eyes showing the shock that her comment had caused. "Of course you are. I thought you knew that. You've always cared so much, how could you not be important?" "I don't know. I guess I never really thought of myself as much. You were always so much better at everything than I was. I guess I felt like your shadow." "God no, Mulder. I depend on you, not only to help solve cases, but more importantly, to help me live my life how I want to live it. "You've always understood me, you appreciated who I was and what I did. Everybody else has always thought that since I went to med-school that I'm not allowed to act certain ways, that I always have to be serious. But you understood. I think you're similar, well... in a different respect." He couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Yeah, I know. Everybody thinks I'm so weird that I can't say anything rational, or mean anything I say. They think I'm like a freak or something." "You're not a freak, Mulder. No matter what they think or say, you're a human being like the rest of us. You have the same emotions as the rest of us. You can be happy, depressed, you can hate... and most importantly, you can love." He wasn't quite sure what she meant by this. Did that mean she loved someone? "Scully, you don't know what it's like to finally have someone tell me this. It's such a relief to know that someone finally understands me." "I know. I feel the same way..." There was a pause as she attempted to bring up the original subject again. "But I still don't understand what happened in the office today." He just sat there, staring down at the plate of food he had barely touched. He didn't know what to say. He stood up and walked around the room for a few seconds, his eyes closed. She watched his smooth strides as he paced around the kitchen. Abruptly, he stopped and turned towards her. "Scully, I guess over the years I've grown to know you. I see what a wonderful person you are, and it's just that..." His voice went dry and there was a pause. Even if he could talk, his mind couldn't put his thoughts and emotions into words. She knew what he was thinking; she felt it. Now all she wanted was for him to say it to her while looking into her eyes. She got up, hoping that if he saw her closer, he might think of something to say, or do. He watched her come nearer, wondering why she was even bothering to get up. Then he heard her soft voice through the silence. "It's just that, what?" "It's hard to explain. I know you so well, but I don't. And just from the little I know about you, I love you so much." His eyes turned towards the floor. He didn't want to see the look in her eyes when she finally determined that he was in fact weird. But something soft touched his chin and lifted his head, just high enough so that he could see her face. She was crying, but that wasn't what shocked him most. What shocked him most, was that she was slowly rising, bringing her face slowly towards his. His eyes seemed puzzled, but she knew what she was doing. She had wanted to do this for so long. Soon, her lips lightly touched his, and she laid a gentle, sweet kiss upon them. When she lowered herself, he looked at her and saw her smiling at him with a mysterious look in her eyes. A look of pure love. "I know, Mulder. I know." He was so glad that she didn't think he was an idiot for having kissed her so passionately in the office. His mind couldn't think and his voice couldn't speak, so he let his body do the talking. His head bent down so that she wouldn't have to stand on her toes to balance out the height difference. His lips enveloped hers, as they had earlier, but it was different this time. It was deeper. There wasn't anger behind this kiss. Only love existed, in its purest form. It belonged to both of them, and for the first time, they were sharing their true feelings. Her arms slipped gently around his neck, holding him softly, never wanting to let go. When he realized that she wanted this as much as he did, he couldn't think. All he could do was place his arms around her, bringing her closer. Neither wanted to let go. Finally, what had only been expressed in their most secret thoughts was being experienced in a kiss. A kiss full of love and devotion. He released her reluctantly, and stared deep into her eyes, and she into his. His fingers rose to stroke the hair that had fallen in her face. His hand brushing lightly against her cheek was something neither of them had ever dreamed would be a reality. When she had first joined the X-Files, she never thought that she would actually grow to like, let alone love, Mulder. "I guess we've found out what I came to talk about," he said lightly, still a bit short of breath. "Yeah, but how much of it was talking?" She smiled, letting him see a side of her that he had never seen before, had never known existed. He had always wondered what it would be like to kiss Dana Scully. Now he knew, but something in him wanted to find out all over again. He leaned over and kissed her lips briefly, then smiled down at her up-turned face. She returned the smile and the kiss. Then, unfortunately, the rational part of Dana Scully kicked in. Her mind went racing. "Mulder, what are we going to do tomorrow? We have to go back to work." Her rationality was one of the things he loved about her, so he had to respect her asking. "Well, don't ask me, I'm not the reasonable one." "I couldn't be completely logical right now even if I tried to." "Well, I would think that things would be the same as always. I love you for who you are and who you've been when you're around me. Things don't have to change at work, unless you want them to..." "No, I think you're right. I love you for the same reasons." He wasn't sure he'd heard correctly. "You love me?" She was rational, he wasn't. He never thought that she could love him for who he really was. "I love you, Mulder. I really do." He smiled gently at her soft face. "I never thought I'd hear you say that." She just smiled back up at him. Both of them were perfectly content with how their evening had gone. Neither knew what to say, but this time, the silence wasn't empty. Each knew what the other was thinking. But she wanted to hear his voice. "What are you thinking about?" "I'm just looking at you. You're so beautiful, Scully." She blushed a little at the flattering compliment. She wasn't sure how to respond to such a sweet comment. "It means a lot to hear you say that." "You're the most beautiful woman I've ever met. Especially your eyes... you have the most gorgeous deep blue eyes." She just smiled as his head neared hers, and this time, she allowed herself to move up as well, his lips meeting hers half way. They were instantly caught in another embrace of true passion, true feeling, and most importantly, true love. -The End- @-->---~~~~@-->---~~~~@-->---~~~~@-->--- I hope this lived up to Sarah and Alicia's standards.
