TRUST NO ONE After Gethesemane by Tana the Scribe Scully turned over uncomfortably in bed. It had been two months since Mulder had killed himself and she still couldn't get to sleep at night. she thought. Scully felt that the end was very near, she knew that she didn't really have much time left. After Mulder's death, the cancer had continued to grow and progress, until it was only a matter of days. she mused. She knew, also, that mixed in with the pain of her disease, was the knowledge that Mulder had taken his own life for no reason at all. Scully felt tears come to her eyes, she thought furiously. All of a sudden, she felt a coolness enter the room. She sat up and stared with amazement at the figure sitting at the edge of her bed. "Mulder?!" she whispered in amazement. "Yeah Scully?" he answered, apparently unperturbed at the fact that he was supposed to be dead. She felt that old annoyance rise up in her again, the annoyance she had saved for Mulder, always. She had often pondered that special feeling she had had for him; annoyance, mixed with that unbreakable bond of loyalty and gentle affection, with just a hint of the slightly absurd. She examined the figure at the end of her bed. It looked like Mulder, but he was giving off a glow, a sort of radiating luminescence. And it was cooler in the room, a pleasant sort of cool, that made her feel not quite so uncomfortable. "Why are you here?" she asked, shakily. She was afraid that he would be gone in a second, a figment of her imagination, sent to taunt her. "It's time, Dana," he replied gently. "I'm here to bring you to the other side." "Really?" she asked. Scully felt no fear. It was what she had asked for, and she had meant it. She was ready to go. "I know," he said. She had not said anything. "Will it..." she trailed off. She did not want to sound like a child, but she was so tired of pain. "No", he said, even more gently, "but we have to hurry". "All right" she said, "let's go". "Give me your hand," he commanded. She held out her hand, and he enfolded it with his. She felt the glowing coolness, run down her arm, through her body. It was flowing through her, and she felt her solid body slipping back into the bed. The pain was washing back into the solid body. Her old body gave a little moan and was still. The new Dana Scully was still holding the hand of her partner, as he pulled her completely free of the old her, completely free of the pain and the wait. Her new self was young and strong, free of the pain and suffering. "How do you like it?" Mulder asked. He was grinning at her, the way he used to when they were alive. She stood for a moment, looking at the corpse on the bed. she thought, then began to giggle, . She turned to Mulder and surprised him with a fierce hug. "Partners?" she asked. "Partners." he replied, planting a kiss on her forehead. THE END Did you love it? Hate it? Did not even read it? E Mail me at: scullyara@rocketmail.com ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!
